Channel Islands National Park iPad App Virtual Tour
Harvest Moon Studio worked with NOAA (National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration) and the National Park Service, to create an iPad Application that visitors could use as an electronic brochure, highlighting the National Marine Sanctuaries situated around the Channel Islands, that sit just off the coast of Los Angeles.
Close to the California mainland, yet worlds apart, the park encompasses five of the eight California Channel Islands (Anacapa, Santa Cruz, Santa Rosa, San Miguel, and Santa Barbara) and their ocean environment, preserving and protecting a wealth of natural and cultural resources. The Channel Islands are home to over 2,000 plant and animal species, of which 145 are found nowhere else in the world. Through education, conservation, science, and stewardship, the Channel Islands National Marine Sanctuary provides protection to its extraordinary natural and cultural resources so that nature can thrive; historic shipwrecks and artifacts remain respectfully in place, cultural connections remain strong, and careful public use and enjoyment is sustained.
Designated in 1980 by the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA), the marine sanctuary spans 1,470 square miles surrounding five of the Channel Islands.
